The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears PradaThe Devil Wears Prada is a book written by Laureen Weisberger. This book is now a major motion picture starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, and from what I’ve heard Meryl Streep gives an outstanding Oscar worthy performance. I haven’t seen a movie yet, but I’m planning to hit a theatre some time for a weekend.

Anyway, I’ve decided to read a book first, because I like this kind of books. I did the same thing when Bridget Jones’ Diary came out, and movie was just great to see afterwards.

About this book - well, I can’t say that this was a fast reading book. Usually, I read books within a day or two, especially if they’re packed with action, but this one took me a little bit longer. It is a nice book to read, but there is no much happenings there. In some instances I actually started disliking Andrea, due to obvious personality conflicts she had in the book. There are some funny moments in the book, but overall, I didn’t think that it was so great book. I mean, it’s not that I don’t like a book… Lauren Weisberger obviously knows how to write a book, but I guess this one is just not my type of fun read. Personally, some books I enjoyed way more, such as Bridget Jones’ Diary or Confessions of a Shopaholic.

This is Lauren’s first book, so I hope that future ones will be more interesting to read. It kind of reminds me of book from Candace Bushnell, “Trading up” - I read first few pages and then stopped, it was just so bad. Ok, this one is not as bad, but I wish it was more action packed, considering that no deep thinking was involved in this book.
